The Society of Nagano-Style Acupuncture Clinical Approaches.

The society for studying, exploring and practicing compilation of acupuncture clinical approaches conducted by the Nagano-style acupuncture practitioners

What is the Nagano-style acupuncture treatment?

Mr. Kiyoshi NAGANO invested much time and effort over the course of 40 years of acupuncture treatment. Finally, he developed an original therapeutic approach and procedure of acupuncture by integrating Western and Eastern medicines.

To leave such therapeutic approach and procedure to posterity, the society was established in Osaka, Japan in 1996.

Nowadays, the Nagano-style acupuncture treatment has become widespread among acupuncture and moxibustion practitioners and judo healing practitioners in charge of a number of clinical cases.

Furthermore, the Nagano-style acupuncture treatment has received widespread international acceptance, including the US, Brazil and Japan because of its clinically-proven effectiveness and repeatability.

A seminar of the Nagano-style acupuncture treatment was initially held in Osaka, Japan in 1997. Then, the Tokyo branch office was established in 1999, and the Tokai branch office was established in Aichi prefecture in 2003. In addition, the Hokkaido branch office was established in 2007.
We will duly inherit the original therapeutic approach and procedure of acupuncture for clinical practitioners left by Mr. Kiyoshi NAGANO. We will also hope to convey Mr. Nagano’s sincere attitude and spirit as a therapist.

The Basic Knowledge And Practice
Of The Treatment in Nagano Method

The reason many acupuncturists in Japan adopt The Nagano method in their treatment is its beneficial effect on patients.

1Special Features of the Nagano Method The human body has natural curing power.

When there are problems and conditions which prevent it from working, we can become ill. In the Nagano Method,we will cure patients by analyzing these problems and conditions in five categories and getting rid of them.

This is the Nagano Method, which was founded and developed by Kiyoshi Nagano, an acupuncturist who based his medical practice on the classic theories of acupuncture and moxibustion

(Suwen 素問, Lingshu 霊枢, Nanjing 難経 and so on― the classic books about acupuncture)

and anatomy and physiology from Western Medicine These five categories are :

Ⅰ. Immune System.

Ⅱ. Blood Vessel System.

Ⅲ. Internal Secretion and Nervous System.

Ⅳ. Muscular System.

Ⅴ. “Qi” System.

which are explained in detail later in this paper.

I’ll show you all in practice the way to find which system is in disorder.
Another feature of the Nagano Method is “Marugoto Chiryou”,

which means “The entire treatment”.

We examine not just a patient’s illness, but also the patient himself.

When we treat a patient, it is very important to know how his or her illness or symptoms happened, what were behind them, by what circumstances he or she is surrounded in his or her home or office and what relationship he or she makes with others.

What we will do is not only to treat illness but to cure a patient himself

Ⅰ. Immune System.

The treatments for Immune Systems

We have in our body an immune system which guards us from foreign enemies―viruses, germs and so on. The immune system’s components are marrow, white blood cells, tonsils, lymph nodes, the thymic gland, mucous membrane’s lower lymphoid tissue, and so on. The treatment of the immune system helps to make our body more resistant to many diseases by reinforcing and activating these immune systems functions.

It is a basic core approach of this treatment to respond to secondary infection (which has in many cases become a chronic disease) brought out by tonsil that has become the cause of a disease.

1) treatment for tonsil.

A variety of stresses※ → they have some influences on the entire human body, i.e. the fall of temperature or blood pressure, the disorder of nerve system, and so on.

The cool down of our throat, which is the front base of the defense of our body

palate, tongue, pharynx, eustachian tonsils

Immunocompromise of the tonsils

Toxins → lymph node, blood vessels

Influences by the decline of physical strength on connective tissue or organs

Secondary acute or chronic diseases happen

※ A variety of stresses are as follows, physical stressors(high temperature, noises, etc), chemical stressors (oxygen deficiency, malnutrition, etc) biological stressors (invasion of pathogen, etc)mental stressors (human relations, mental sufferings)

Ⅱ. Blood Vessel System.

The treatments for blood vessels

1) treatment for congested arteries.

Pressure pain on the left under the navel, zhongzhu or daju (中注、大巨)

blood congestion in an ilium rotation artery or a superficial epigastric artery

The place going down from external iliac artery to thigh artery is blood vessel
hiatus in the narrow space between a pubis of groin and a groin ligament.

➀ It goes through the narrow blood vessel hiatus.

➁ Groin parts is the place where they bend and stretch very hard,
so blood is apt to be congested.

➂ The artery which branches out from a femoral artery goes up in
abdomen and is linked to the superior epigastric artery at the height
    of the navel ( anastomosis)

➃ Ilium rotation artery and superficial epigastric artery form vascular
plexus and the upper side on the left part of epigastric artery becomes bigger.

left zhongfeng 左中封(留)― chize (尺沢、雀)

2) treatment for hepatic portal vein congestion.

when there are pressure pains on left tianshu (左天枢)

→from huiyang (会陽) toward shangdi (上仙) with 2-needle in length

quezhuo (雀啄), pecking sparrow needlig

The under part of heart begins to be vacant. Be careful of the amount of stimulation

left huiyang (左会陽) ‒ pull out a needle as turning right

‒superior mesenteric vein(left side)

3) treatment for pelvis ischemic.

(It can be the cause of menopause)

細 ‒ pelvis ischemic ‒ the decline of secretion of ovarian hormones (estrogen)

In order to make qi and blood stream smoothly, dachangshu(大腸兪)

yaoguan(腰関)shangdi (上仙) and baliaoxue (八髎穴),in particular

ciliao (次髎). warming needle with moxibustion (灸頭鍼、温灸鍼)

in Chinese) is also good.

and sanyingiao (三陰交) neiguan (内関)

The cerebral circulation becomes better and the psychogenically caused

troubles ( for example, giddiness) are also gone.

※ blood congestion syndrome in pelvis

·It includes an abdominal pain (which radiates into the sacral region and before menstruation becomes harder), the increase of leucorrhea, and the swelling of lactiferous glands before menstruation, and this syndrome is the one which objectively shows a pressure pain on uterosacral ligament or a wandering pain on the uterus. It is thought that they are caused by stress and they mentally bring about an engorgement in pelvis, a congestion, an edema, and a dolor.

·The blood congestion in pelvis is caused by the disorder of vasomotor nerve , which brings about hyperplasy or hardening of pelvic connective tissue such as uterosacral ligament and this condition, which results in lumbago or hypogastrium pain as main symptoms, is the congestion syndrome in pelvis.
It is also said that this syndrome is often accompanied by some systemic unidentified complaints such as a head ache or a shoulder stiffness.

Ⅳ. Muscular System.

The treatments for Muscle Systems

1) treatment for obi pulse.

By relaxing the tension of musculus erector spinae, we will brace up the slackness of the external or internal oblique muscle, in particular, of the abdomen. By doing this remedy, we’ll maintain the balance between flexor and extensor of a human trunk.

“the obi pulse of qijing (奇経) rises from xue (穴) of zhangmen (章門) and circulates like belt in our body through daimaixue (帯脈穴). The obi pulse is called so because it bundles some different meridians” excerpt from Qijingbamaikao (奇経八脈考), which is one of the classics about acupuncture and moxibustion

(anatomy) There are the external or internal oblique muscle, transversus abdominis muscle, broadest muscle of back, and in them subcostal artery or vein and superior epigastric artery or vein race through it. Intercostal nerve and llioinguinal nerve trunk are distributed among them.

2) treatment for demulcent of muscular strain.

face-up position ― the posterior region of the neck (stemocleidomastoid muscle, trapezius) ― pressure examination with three or four fingers ― qiuxu (丘墟) sidu (四犢) + yanlingquan (陽陵泉) on the back side of the strain,   quezhuo (雀啄), pecking sparrow needling → the muscular strain of the neck begins to disappear

※ in using moxibustion, 20 or 30 layers of moxa should be done.

Stimulating corticocerebral motor area gets rid of the muscular strain of the back side because of the pyramidal decussation at the medulla oblongata (pyramidal system).

in case of paralysis, we must select acupuncture points on the paralytic side.

3) treatment for demulcent of musculus erector spinae.

(掘進)―to get rid of the strain of the origin part of the lliocostalis lumborum muscle ―to soften the sclerosis of the lumbosacral joint or the sacroiliac joint.

to get rid of muscular strain by stimulating under the ilium arch from the inside of upper side, needling slantingly.

inside huiyang (内会陽)―2寸6, quezhuo (雀啄), pecking sparrow needling
→ to identify erector muscle

4) treatment for the activation of connective tissue.

(1) ache, stiffness, numbness, or cramp of cervix, shoulder, arms, fingers,
  1. the ache of stemocleidomastoid muscle of the side region of neck ̴
make acupuncture on fengchi (風池) wangu(完骨)tianyou(天牖)on the outside of mastoid and the underside of occiput nodule at the attachment part of this muscle, single needling 3-2 in length
  2. indisposition of the cervical front ~the upper side of greater pectoral muscle, which is the starting point of platysma muscle, i.e.
    zhongfu (中府) yunmen (雲門)
for the demulcent of scalenus muscle, shufu (兪府) qihu (気戸)
  3. the indisposition of deltoid ~ one third’s outside of under the bone spicule of scapula, 3-2 needle in length, 2~3cm in depth, quezhuo (雀啄), pecking sparrow needling
in relation to this, acupuncture on the starting point of trapezius, quezhuo (雀啄), pecking sparrow needling, about 5mm in depth
  4. the indisposition of biceps brachil (antebrachial flexure) ~ acupuncture on the coronoid process of scapula, 1~3 cm under the chize (尺沢), 3-2 needle in length, 2~3cm in depth
  5. the indisposition of triceps brachil muscle (antebrachial extension) ~ acupuncture on the back of scapula angulus and the back of the armpit of scapula (the starting point of teres major and minor muscle)
  6. the disfunction of wrist joints extension or finger joints quezhuo (雀啄), pecking sparrow needling on 2 cm above sidu (四犢) on the under rim of elbow joint as the starting point of extensor digitorum muscle
(2) The treatment for pain, strain, stiffness, and convulsions of lumbosacral joint, interrertebal joint, sacroiliac joint, and hip joint (the treatment of huckle bone)

to assuage twitch, strain, or strangulation of muscles such as greatest, middle, or least gluteal muscle, superior or inferior muscle, internal or external obturator muscle and piriform muscle. In particular, to promote the circulation and metabolism of a group of flexor muscle of the femoral region and bring the activation of them.

In a lumbar region, to mitigate overstrain of such muscles as musculus erector spinae ( iliocostails lumborum muscle, longissimus muscle, spinal muscle), broadest muscle of back, and quadratus lumborum muscle, and, in addition, to be able to control the overstrain of the sympathetic nerve and activate the parasympathetic nerve.

  1. the edge of sacrum (the starting point of greatest gluteal muscle and iliocostails lumborum muscle )

Making a patient in the prone position or the lateral position, an operator jabs a needle 6-4 in size into a stiffened part mentioned above of the patient from the left side of him with 20 degrees, 3cm in depth and softens that part.
  2. the under border of ilium born
From the outside of the part mentioned above toward inside, jab a needle in the same way and repeat to jab and pull out a needle up to sacroiliac joint.
  3. the up border of ilium born
From the outside of the part mentioned above to lumbosacral joint, jab a needle in the same way as ➁

to mitigate stiffnes of musculus erector spinae, broadest muscle of back, quadratus lumborum muscle and at the same time it’s very effective as one of the moderations of autonomic nerve system.
  4. the trochanter major of thighbone
To soften the stiffness of connective tissue on the attachment part of buttock muscles above, under, and inside the part mentioned above. ( the angle is 45 degrees)
  5. lower spine
for the spasm of multifidus muscles that start from L1~5 of papillary process and reach spinal process, jab a needle into the very near part of spinal process upward 45 degrees 1~2cm in depth and soften the stiffened part because of twisting.

by touching with fingers the stiffened part of the very near area of L1~5 of spinal process, we can find which part to jab a needle pressure pain.
  6. sacral hole
The mentioned above mitigates the stiffness of piriform muscle, accelerates the blood stream of internal pudendal artery, and improve the metabolism of the pelvic viscera. ( in particular, it’s effective in the ilioninguinal nerve symptom.
(3) a pain, strain, numbness, and convulsions of the thigh, the knee joint, the lower thigh , and the foot joints and so on.
  1. chengfu (承扶) ~6 in length, 5cm in depth in the lateral position on the starting point of the biceps muscle of the thigh and half tendon semimembranosus muscle.
  2. 2cm under from weiyang ( 委陽) ~ the attachment area of the biceps muscle of the thigh and the starting point of gastrocnemius muscle.
  3. yinlingquan (陰陵泉), ququan (曲泉), yingu (陰谷) ~ the attachment area of the half tendon semimembranosus muscle and the satorius muscle.
the attachment area of the thigh adductor or the inside of the medial epicondyle of femur. (the inflammation caused by the lacerate wound inside the knee joint)
  4. anterior inferior iliac spine ~ the pain of the upper side of the kneecap is at the starting point of the rectus femoris muscle.
  5. xipangxue (膝膀穴) ~ the pain of the outside of knee joint. make moxibustion on that place.
  6. four finger’s wide upper or under edge outside of zusanli (足三里)
~ the disfunction of knee joints extension, the starting point of iliotibal tract, tibialis anterior muscle, and the long extensor muscle of digit.
  7. zhaohai (照海), tianyou (天牖), shousanli (手三里), zhongfeng (中封), jiexi (解谿) ~the inflammation of Achilles tendon (making moxibustion)

Ⅴ. “Qi (life energy)” System.

The treatments for qi(life energy)

1) three points treatments for qi of stomach (qi of stomach is weak).

The edge of tibia ~ on jiexi (解谿) ― the place there are few muscle lines

(the stiffness tendency)

Tension, needling on the hardened part 1cm in depth on both sides

see the fluidity of pulse

○ accelerate the secretion of gastrointenstinal hormone
~ VIP : Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (the blood flow in bowel)
cholecystokinin ( the acceleration of pancreatic juice ),
selectin(the secretion of bile)

○ to accelerate the excretion of the gas in the stomach and intestines
there are much pressure pain (―)on jiexi (解谿)
weijing ( 胃経)› yanjing (陽経) of other 5 meridians
qi of stomach activates the cellular respiration of organization (internal respiration)

2) treatment for qishuixue (気水穴).

→ qixue (気穴) shallow needling
shuixue (水穴) deep needling
(parasympathetic nerves)

a pressure pain on huoxue (火穴)(sympathetic nerve)
→congestion, inflammation, swelling, ulcer and son

get rid of a pressure pain on huoxue (火穴) by quezhuo (雀啄), pecking sparrow

※ qixue (気穴) ― jinqu (経渠) lung lingdao (霊道) heart jianshi (間使)

shangqiu (商丘) spleen fuliu (復溜) kidney zhongfeng (中封) liver

3) treatment for the acceleration of the flow of qi.

qixue (気穴) increases the blood oxygenation level( by needling shallowly along the flow ) , that is to say, activates the cellular respiration of organization, making feijinxue(肺金穴)qixue (気穴)

qi improves the impeded blood flow( in artery and vein both) and accelerates circulation, distribution, and metabolism of the lymph vessel and the body fluid.

※ needling deeply on shuixue (水穴) ― inflammation starts to disappear

○ the main causes which arrest the stream of qi are the stiffness of dense connective tissue and other connective tissues at each joint in our body.

  1. the words written in italic letters before Chinese characters, for example shuixue (水穴) , are not genuine English words, rather, they are English phoneticizations of Chinese wotds.
  2. quezhuo (雀啄) is one of the way of needling, which is to move a needle up and down little by little like the pecking of birds.
  3. most of the expression in Chinese characters are the name of jinxue, which means acupuncture points.

Case No. 009 Melancholia

Male of 18 years old, a student studying for a college entrance examination

Chief complaint:

Feeling depressed and lacking motivation

Current medical history:

The patient was feeling depressed and in a state of depression for six months. His grandmother was consulting one of the clinics with extensive experience conducting the Nagano-style acupuncture treatment. According to his grandmother, the patient experienced depression after he got bullied at a cram school. As a result, he was reluctant to attend the cram school. He also became listless and unmotivated; while his character remained serious and socially introverted. Additionally, he is currently being prescribed an anti-depression medicine and a tranquilizer every other week at the psychiatric department of a university hospital in Kobe.

Chen-chi mai; Stiffness of left sternocleidomastoideus muscle; No obvious kaketu

Ttonsils treatment (zhao hai K-16, tian you TE-16, da zhui GV-14 and shou san li LI-10);
Dai mai GB-26;
Muscle relaxant treatment (right qiu xu GB-40, right si du TE-9 (usually little upper than si du TE-9);
Treatment for controlling the autonomic nervous system; and
Neburu 4 points (subsequently, pi nei zhen secured at neburu 4 points (at four points around the navel)).

The treatments were provided three times in five days. Though his appetite diminished, no particular changes were seen. Therefore, the approach in the fourth treatment was changed. Since he still had chen-chi mai, the following treatments were provided: fu liu K-17; shu fu KI-27; right qiu xu GB-40; lu zhen on right si du TE-9 (usually little upper than si du TE-9) for 15 minutes. In addition, a treatment for controlling the autonomic nervous system was provided.

On the following day (i.e., the fifth treatment), the patient admitted that he had been feeling better than the first visit. Taking his pulse (mai), chen-chi mai disappeared. The same treatments were provided.

He went back to his parents’ house in Kobe, then he visited again nine days later. In the sixth treatment, his pulse became better than before and chen-chi mai disappeared. He had a pulse that was reaching normal (ping mai). His left sternocleidomastoideus muscle tension was rather relaxed. He revealed that he had not been feeling depression, had an appetite and had been feeling better. Then, the following treatments were provided: lu zhen; tonsils treatment; and treatment for controlling the autonomic nervous system.

After that, he visited for five consecutive days. He experienced a full recovery and was also socially vibrant. He willingly talked before he was asked questions. His growing appetite also resulted in a heavy feeling in his stomach.

Then, after returning to Kobe, he started to go to the cram school again. I (practitioner) suggested him warming up for the entrance examination by taking as many prep tests as possible. He seemed to have taken several prep tests conducted outside the cram school. His condition seems to have almost recovered.

This case indicates very important factors. More specifically, in the condition of chen-chi mai, i.e, shen xu, when the adrenal cortex system is weaken, merely providing lu zhen (for 15 minutes) on fu liu K-17 of shen jing and shu fu KI-27 resulted in changing mai, and the patient’s complaints promptly and favorably changed. Such changes occurred the next day immediately following the treatments.

Shen jing relates to the endocrine system including the adrenal cortex. Providing lu zhen on shen jing could stimulate the hypothalamic area (i.e., the endocrine center) to allow adrenomedullary hormone to produce therefrom so that the adrenal cortex was revitalized to promote the change of mai and activate both mind and body.

In addition, lu zhen was provided for 15 minutes on right qiu xu GB-40, right si du TE-9 (usually little upper than si du TE-9), which is located on the opposite side of the left sternocleidomastoideus muscle. This took advantage of effects on shao yang jing and tractus pyramidalis systems. Further investigation confirms that this treatment relates to the motor area and the reticular formation of the brain stem of the cerebral cortex. The reticular formation is believed to receive various sensory information as input and activate and keep the whole area of the cerebral cortex in an awaken state. That is, providing lu zhen on right qiu xu GB-40, right si du TE-9 (usually little upper than si du TE-9) activated the reticular formation of the brain stem and awaked the cerebral cortex. As a result, chen-chi mai disappeared and the patient gradually felt better.

Case No. 013 Pollen allergy(seasonal nasal allergy)

Female of 49 years old, part time worker (waitress at a Japanese traditional restaurant)

Chief complaint:

Nasal congestion, sneezing and collum muscle ache

Current medical history:

Allergic rhinitis for 20 years or more; Hypertrophic rhinitis; Pollen allergy for 10 years or more; Two surgical operations in the nose for nasal polyp two years before and seven years before; and Collum muscle ache for 10 years or more.

Xi- jin-shu mai; Stiffness of sternocleidomastoideus muscle and ing jian (LR-2) tenderness (+) (pressure point +)

Autonomic nerve adjustment treatment; Allergy treatment (neburu 4 points, shen zhu GV-12 and the like); Manti-inflammatory treatment (shang qiu SP-5, yin ling quan SP-9 and the like); Dai maiGB-26; Gan shi treatment (aright shao haiHT-3, men PC-4, qu chi LI-11, lou gu SP-7, fu liu K-17; and Pi nei zhen secured at neburu-4 points

Following the second treatment (on the third day from the first treatment), nasal obstruction no longer occurred and sneezing stopped. The muscle ache recovered.

After the third treatment (on the sixth day from the first treatment), the patient seemed to feel much better. The stiffness of sternocleidomastoideus muscle was eased. Xi- jin-shu mai has eased.

The patient’s condition improved significantly. In general, with respect to allergic rhinitis as well as pollen allergy, stimuli such as various allergen cause the nasal mucosa to swell and the nasal air passages to narrow. As a result, nasal obstruction, nasal flow and sneezing appear.

Allergic diathesis is considered to be caused by excessively taking heterologous protein. Powdered milk has become popular in Japan since about 1949. Therefore, those who suffer from poor digestion have taken heterologous protein such as cow milk from a very early age.

The patient was born in 1948 and must have grown up in an environment where the heterologous protein was readily available.

People suffering from nasal allergy usually have autonomic instability (or oversensitivity). The patient was not the exception and had xi- jin-shu mai. More specifically, she had an autonomic imbalance. The treatment administered to her, which is, according to the Nagano-style treatment system, a treatment for nerve and glandulate sine ducttibus and is considered to enhance her recovery.

Furthermore, the main symptom of rhinitis and pollen allergy is swelling of the mucosa. The treatments for the mucosa anti-inflammation and allergies (both affect the immune system) worked as expected.

The three-stage treatments mentioned above are considered to remedy the nasal occlusion and other symptoms, more specifically, the treatments widen the narrowed nasal passages that were caused by chronic swelling of the mucosa called hypertrophic rhinitis.

Case No. 038 Cervical sprain (rear end collision accident)

Female of 43 years old

Chief complaint:

Having dull pains and numbness in the left neck to the upper arm and back pain

Current medical history:

The patient got rear ended on the previous day and went to an orthopedic

hospital. However, she was not satisfied with the treatment there

and visited my clinic.

The patient looked a little nervous with the traffic accident.

Her symptom seemed to be a sprain type not a radicle type.

Accordingly, I believed that her symptom would be improved soon

and explained it to the patient accordingly.

Xu mai was found. There was stiffness of the sternocleidomastoideus muscle.

With respect to Fu zhen, ya tong appeared from t

he left zhong zhu KI-15 to the da ju ST-27.

The patient had numbness from the neck to the upper arms.

However, such numbness disappeared by the first treatment.

In total, treatment was administered eleven-times, and the patient

experienced nearly full-recovery on the 34th day after the first treatment.

Dai mai GB-26 seems to be the most effective treatment, evidenced

by the patients’ smile whenever she was encouraged to exercise, i

ncluding neck and shoulder rotation and raising her shoulders.

Dai mai GB-26 loosened up the muscle stiffness not only

in her neck and shoulders but also in her face.

Among numerous Nagano-style treatments, Dai mai GB-26 is

the fastest-acting remedy. This treatment is effective in backache

and lower back pain, sciatica, cervicobrachial pain, subacromial bursitis,

various joint pains, headache, temporomandibular joint arthrosis,

rheumatoid arthritis and the like. Therefore, the treatment can be

widely applied. Why does the treatment work so effectively and widely?

The reasons are considered below by showing examples.

1) Adjustment point of truncus extensor and truncus flexor muscles

Muscles and ligaments allow the human body to flexibly move,

such as bend, stretch, twist and the like.

A truck part of the human body includes the truncus extensor group

such as erector spinae muscle, gluteus maximus muscle

and quadriceps femoris muscle, and the truncus flexor group such

as abdominal muscle and biceps femoris muscle, which are attached

to each other in an antagonistic manner. The erector spinae

muscle mainly allows the body to rotate and twist.

Dai mai GB-26 is located in the middle of the above mentioned

muscle groups. More specifically, Dai mai GB-26 is positioned i

n the center of the beginning of abdominal internal oblique muscle, a

bdominal external oblique muscle and transverse abdominal muscle.

(Points of the treatment)

If a patient has a weak abdominal muscle, is obese, or has received

gynecological operation, his or her abdominal muscle back side

and erector spinae muscle are often stiffened or tensed.

Accordingly, the acupuncture point is decided on a position 6-9 cm

rearward from the normal point of Dai mai GB-26.

This is called back Dai mai GB-26. By releasing the stiffness

of the muscles or easing the tension of the muscles,

the lower-back pain and the neck-schulter pain are relieved.

2) Anatomical meaning

Around Dai mai GB-26, the abdominal internal oblique muscle, t

he abdominal external oblique muscle, the transverse

abdominal muscle and the latissimus dorsi muscle exist.

With respect to blood vessels, the internal iliac artery is connected to t

he subclavian artery and the external iliac artery.

Close to Dai mai GB-26, the subcostal artery extends from

the thoracic aorta and the abdominal aorta to the abdominal walls

through the abdominal internal oblique muscle and the transverse abdominal muscle.

With respect to the nervous system, the intercostal nerve

and the ilioinguinal nerve are involved with Dai mai GB-26.

Therefore, in the anatomical point of view, Dai mai GB-26 widely

covers the collum, the thorax, the abdomen, the dorsum part,

the lumbus part and the ramus inferior.

3) Classical meaning

Dai mai GB-26 has two aspects: a meridian belonging to

the dan jing; and a meridian belonging to the qi jing.

The Dai mai GB-26 treatment apparently shows that

Dai mai GB-26 belongs to the qi jing as well as the shi er jing mai.

Referring to several old books, the location of Dai mai GB-26 starts

at the hypochondriac regions that are positioned on both sides

of the thorax abdomen and extends around the waist like a

waistband (see Nanjing No. 28). This is a typical description and

Shisijingfahu” follows this description.

According to “Qijingbamaikao,” the location of Dai mai GB-26 of

the qi jing starts at zhang men (LR-13) and surrounds the body trunk

like a waistband, thereby bundling the shi er jing mai, that is to call dai mai GB-26.

Through clinical applications, I have realized that Dai mai GB-26 has positive effects on various symptoms and disorders.

The Dai mai GB-26 treatment absolutely corresponds to shi er jing mai.
